entertainment - no cover charge - Friday (3 of 11)

Bought "hop on, hop off" bus tour tickets. When we got to the Guinness factory, driver advised getting off then before the Q got too long. Good advice!

Afterward we got back on and finished the tour.

Hungry so we went looking for a pub. Found the Dakota. Great smoked salmon sandwich for only E7.5.

Of course there was a rugby tournament so it took over 1/2 hr to get a table and another 1/2 hr + to get food.

p.s. Ireland won the game but lost the title on some rule based on total points for the tournament.

After the B&B breakfast, we checked out of the B&B. The debit card was locked out due to the fact I forgot my pin. After we got that straightened out, we just barely had time to catch the bus to the airport to pick up the van -- nice VW van.

On the way back to get the luggage and everybody, I got lost. It took so long we were late getting on the road. We arrived at the west coast just in time for the sun to set on the cliffs of Mohare. Just as well. I was thoroughly pissed (American not British) because I had to drive back roads, some of which are barely over one lane, on the left side of the road. Will never drive in a country like this again!

entertainment - no cover charge - Sunday (5 of 11)

Mickey and Derek and Kileigh went on a "hunt" set up by the city.

It was so cold that Beth stayed in mostly and we went with Madison along for a bit. Halfway through we declared we were cold and hungry and went to a pub called Dakota which has relatively inexpensive food. While we were there:

The wind almost blew off the awnings.

The hailstorm was followed by snow.

They canceled fireworks due to inclement weather.

When we got back we were sitting in the B&B front parlor when we saw a truck him a guy on a bike. Guy was ok. We were more shook than he was.

Then we went to Mass across the street from the B&B. Reminded me of the first Mass I saw at St Boniface in the East Street Valley -- so many questionable things.

The Mass is called a "Gospel Mass." A weak try.

Because the Mass was late on Sunday and possibly because the next day was St Joseph's day which (I am told) is a day of obligation in Ireland, they dropped the first reading!

A layman said the Kyrie and then the choir sang part of it.

They sang Mass parts but failed to sing the Great Amen!

entertainment - no cover charge - Saturday (4 of 11)

The Dublin St Patrick's parade. The parade started late because they waited for the President of Ireland's motorcade, which drove the parade route to her reviewing stand. Half of the units are from the US!

Two of interest:

Harrison High school marching band, Kennesaw GA -- from a few miles from my house. Click picture to expand it.

A group called Horizon from CO marching in windbreakers. It seems that when they flew over United Air lost their uniforms and instruments.

The parade is coming down O'Connell St. The church in the picture is at the corner of a cross street down which was our B&B. The parade was marching south toward the heart of downtown.

entertainment - no cover charge - Thursday (2 of 11)

We were waiting on the O'Connell bridge over the Liffey River in "City Center" when the entertainment for the week began. At that point the river is a dirty tidal stream 100 yds wide or so with concrete walls on each side. A fellow gets up on the bridge and jumps in!

All of sudden the Garda (National police force) and Dublin Fire show up and begin a simulation of a Chinese fire drill. After 5 or so minutes, a tour boat comes by with the fellow and someone in uniform looking over him. They docked at a nearby floating landing. The ambulance hauled him off.

Wednesday goes lost (1 of 11)

We were supposed to leave 6:40 from ATL to Dublin on Delta. But the flight filled up with misconnects from the previous night that were not redirected. So we went out on the 8:00 pm to Manchester. Spent 13 hrs in Manchester to save over $100/person. Which is where Wednesday went lost.

The flight to Dublin from Manchester is about 35 minutes. It takes that long in ATL just to taxi to the runway.

Relationship issues bleed into syntax

Jim Brewster and Andrew Spano found this on Fox News online in a piece dated Mar3:
Police say a man sought revenge against his ex-girlfriend by leaving homemade DVDs of her performing sex acts on car windshields throughout the area.
At this time of year, it's a great way to catch a chill.

nostalgia

Check out Pittsburgh Scenes for the New Year

late happy birthday to the tweeter

from herself:

31 st Birthday was uneventful like I like it. I really don't feel that old.

We stopped at subway got some food and had a mini picnic and then went to Ft. Washington to take a walk. Good thing we ate in the car, it was a little colder than we thought it would be.. ..We did get a picture of Jason shoving Hailey's head in the cannon though...(we have one just like it with Abby)

Abigail banged her forehead off a historical sign..Not looking where she was going and walked right into it. She certainly is my daughter. She was a little disappointed when we got home and decided not to make the cake. We had so many girl scout cookies.. I figured that was just as good as cake.

Hailey is trying very hard to crawl and should be very soon. She is up on her hands and knees rocking back and forth. (a step before crawling)

oh, yesterday we went to Annika's 1st Birthday party. She is a little girl the girls go to daycare with. Her parents had a nice spread of food so we ate well and the girls had a great time playing...except when Abby almost beat up some little boy for playing with the kitchen. I guess she had marked it as hers and no one was going to play with it.. She had a fit for about 20 minutes. Jason finally took her back up stairs where they saw Jacky...the babysitter. Thank goodness...she calmed right down. We left after cake since it was also Hailey's nap time.. Oh that was the other reason we didn't want cake.. we already had it this weekend. Everyone commented on how big Hailey is. Annika's mother said she almost weighs as much as she does..

Anyway.. hope everyone is doing well. It's supposed to be almost 70 Wednesday...Can't wait...then back to 30's on Friday...boooo

I'm sick of winter..

[If you got this far, go back to the last sentence of the biggest paragraph and tell me what the antecedant of the second "she" is? I am assuming the antecedant of the first "she" is Annika.]

quote of the day: "my daughter is not a crook"

Joy Miller, the mother of Ashley, told ABC's "Good Morning America" on Monday that her daughter is sorry for what she did. "I want [people] to know that her and Heather both are not bandits," Joy Miller said. "They're little girls that made a bad choice."
